illumin8 supports people who are trying to make a difference! If you have a cause that you would like to support and feel like it would be worthwhile to advertise it here, please email us and we’d be happy to see how we can work together! Otherwise have a look below and see how you can help support these causes.

Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." Matthew 25:40

I’m a perfectionist…at heart. Meaning I strive to be one but seldom get it right, in fact hardly ever! My whole life seems to be living in this tension with itself. Part of this infiltrates into how I feel about making a difference in this world. I want to know that the thing I do, will make a BIG, visible and immediate difference. I want to help everywhere and find it hard choosing where I feel the place would be that will have the biggest impact. So much so sometimes that I do nothing about it. If I can’t make a big difference, how can I make a difference at all?

As hard as it is, I have come to the conclusion that my “perfectionistic” tendancies have to be challenged if I ever want to make ANY sort of difference. I have a few friends who have inspired me in this way. When someone is in need, they do what they can to help then and there. They don’t wait to see what amazing thing they can do to help eventually, they just do it. Sometimes it’s simple and sometimes it requires a little more commitment.

If you’re anything like me you see that there’s so much need and there’s no way that you can do everything…but, you can start with something! Don’t wait before you can make a BIG difference, practice compassion now.

There’s a hymn that says “When I needed a neighbour were you there? When I was cold and I was hungry were you there? When I needed a shelter were you there?” I don’t want my answer to be “well, I thought about it”…I want it to be “yes I was there!”

CHALLENGE
Spend time with God and get to know His heart for people, ask Him for a heart of compassion. Is there someone in your life that needs a friend right now even if it means giving up some of your precious time? Is there someone you have promised to give clothes to for an orphanage but haven’t yet?

Don’t just think about it, do it.

Until next time - Katy
